Yes... Cyclonus was a great character... He and Rodimus always impressed me greatly.

It's a complete shame that they are so underappreciated and essentially hated... :(

Mostly Rodimus. At least I know that Rodimus was not a bad character. The movie introduced me to him.

Cyclonus just seemed like a much more intelligent Skywarp.

But then the more you watched S3, the more you got attached to him. Cyclonus was a warrior, with his own code of honer. He was fiercely loyal to Galvatron --- more so then any minion had been in the past. He was paralleled to Ultra Magnus, and essentially led the Decepticons behind the scenes (being the only one Galvatron trusts, despite his condition)....
He was the only one who held the Deceptions together, after their fall when Unicron was destroyed.
I felt the episodes that gave him the best character development where "The Killing Jar", and "Webworld"....

I watched Webworld and I find it funny that the Decepticons would change their mindset since they were expecting much better with Galvatron but people like Motormaster said 'FUCK THIS! Why DID I EVEN GAVE UP MY ENERGY CORE FOR THAT ASSHOLE GALVATRON IN THE FIRST PLACE?!! I'M OUTTA HERE!!' It's stuff like this that makes me chuckle and say, well mindsets will change,Master-boy. So its good that Cyclonus is like a guy who takes requests for not only his leader but everyone else. Kinda like the daddy of the group.

Yes... He essentially rules the Decepticons in the end. But his intense loyalty to Galvatron keeps him from officially seizing the throne (which he seems to have little desire for anyway. He just rules to keep his leader in charge. He remembers what Galvatron once was, and knowing and respecting that, will never abandon his now broken leader)...
He IS like the daddy, taking care of Galvatron (who depends on him like a child), as well as the rest of the Decepticons. He tries to make everything right --- but things are difficult, and it's hard to tell if the Decepticons will ever recover their strength... There are too many factors that keep them away from any real power, so in the end, they have merely been reduced to scavengers... Cyclonus is holding the faction together -- but for how long? And if something should happen to him, how long would it be before things fell completely apart?

Speaking of Galvatron,I do like that one moment in the finale of Season 3 where everyone was cured from the Hate virus thanks to the Matrix and it seems that Galvatron looks like he's cured not only from the hate virus but his rage and insanity too(speculation here.) I do like it that he's like 'Optimus,y'know. This has gone far enough but for now,we'll call it a truce.' The whole cartoon series should've ended right here imo instead of that shitty Rebirth mini-series because Galvatron, for once,he's actually speaking up for the Decepticons as real people. They don't destroy because they feel like it but because they feel that they're conquest was pretty much what they lived for and is what they're characteristics are and it shows that Galvatron is thinking about his people for once and is possibly honoring the memory of Megatron because since Optimus came back,he knows there is no way in hell he's gonna win again, not with Prime around again. He knows what he wants in life but at the same time, not delusional of what he wants unlike Megatron who kinda blames it on anyone with a second thought.

That's an interesting point. I'd never thought about it like that, but considering his actions, and clear-thinking, I'd have to say your probably right. Galvatron HAD to be cured of his insanity --- because he would not be capable of being so civil otherwise!!!

I disliked the Rebirth mini-series as well. It had a few memorable moments, but was too rushed, and ruined the story-line in many ways. It didn't really seem relevant to the rest of the series. Plus, at the end of the previous episode, it seemed as though Hotrod (although no longer a Prime) still retained some rank. Optimus was treating him with respect. Once the Rebirth came around, he was demoted back to his previous rank. Not the proper treatment for one who had just given so much of himself to everyone in the past year. Not to mention, definitely not proper treatment for the chosen of the Matrix. Sure, Optimus was now in charge again, but that doesn't change the fact that Hotrod was indeed chosen, and as much apart of the Matrix as Optimus was.... Hotrod deserved more respect then demotion, and treatment as though none of those events had ever happened!!! No, I disagree!

Cyclonus is another Decepticon who is often shunned and ignored. It seems people are very picky on who they want to give attention to and who they wish to ignore.

I know. Cyclonus was another character I liked a lot.
I don't really understand why they create characters, then never use them again... It seems pointless...
Not that I'm exactly complaining--- I mean, had they never created characters like Rodimus Prime or Cyclonus, the world would be a duller place... Still... It baffles me, as they were some of the best characters...

If you ask me, I think they should make an effort to use Cyclonus and Scourge again. Sure, they misused them a lot in season 3 of the original cartoon. But that's because some episodes suffered from bad lazy writing. I mean you'd expect that they would get some attention after almost 30 years since their debut. But apparently, the poeple who made those numerous spin offs just say "Screw these characters. We're going to use who we want." And that's perfectly okay. I mean everybody has their favorites and least favorites. And yes, Cyclonus did appear in Transformers Animated. But that barely counts because he served no importance to the show, and nor was he given any dialogue. And Rodimus did appear in Transformers Energon (a show which I personally disliked). But I guess Energon did Rodimus better justice than Animated ever has. Plus, he and Cyclonus have been getting more attention in the IDW comics. But I want to see them on TV and on the big screen again.

Are they being true to their characters in Energon and the IDW comics?

To me those shows were so much more... I find it sad to learn they were made purely for marketing purposes... Perhaps that is why they are filled with countless continuity errors--- because the companies didn't care...
That is why Optimus was killed off in the first place, remember? They thought a new generation would want new Transformers --- thus the movie... On the good side, I think the movie was the best thing that ever happened to the series. I was devastated at Prime's death--- but Hot Rod's rise into Rodimus Prime was more than enough to bring me tears of joy. Had they continued with it--- I mean, the 3rd season is fun, but they didn't do it as well as they should of--- I think it could have become even greater!! After watching the movie, I thought season 3 had the potential to be the greatest of all!!!
Characters like Cyclonus and Scourge were also characters I enjoyed... It's a pity they are underused as well...

In transformers Energon, Rodimus was a completely different character from the young and inexperienced new recruit like he was in the 1986 film. In the IDW comics, he's more or less like his original incarnation. But he receives more attention and respect than he did in Animated. In the way I see it, the original Transformers movie was a great film. But I'll admit I did have a few problems with it. First and foremost being that it killed off a lot of the characters who were introduced in the first two seasons of the original cartoon in favor of new comers. But I like how they took a darker and gritter tone for the movie as opposed to the more light hearted tone of the original cartoon. And I'll say this, Rodimus showed a lot of promise in his debuted. But I guess part of the hatred he's received was mostly due to the fact that he inadvertently caused Prime's death. Personally, I feel that its more of the fault of the script writers. And while I admit I was devastated and sad when Optimus died, at least they brought him back towards the end of season 3. And I agree, season 3 did have potential. But well... Looking back at it today, it had its ups and downs. But then again, no show is without its flaws. But at least Rodimus had a chance to redeem himself towards the end of the movie. And for me, that was the best thing he's ever done. A lot of haters say that Rodimus was the worst Autobot leader ever. But I beg to differ. While he's nowhere as good a leader as Optimus, he's not the absolute worst. He did some good, and there were times when his performance was subpar. But I really don't believe he deserves all this hate and negativity from haters. I feel that Rodimus had potential, but it was wasted. Nowadays, he's but a shadow.

I agree with that--- watching all of the Autobots (and even some of the Decepticons) you got so attached to die in the snap of a finger--- it's heartbreaking... And of course there's Optimus....
I do love the new characters introduced--- but it makes me sad that it's at the expense of the old ones.
And when I say I am mad at Optimus's return, don't think it's because I hate Optimus in anyway. On the contrary, he is still one of the best characters in any cartoon in my opinion... I just feel it was sort of a cheap way out----- had there at least been a better explanation for his return.... Or maybe had he refused to retake the mantle of leadership--- saying he will help, but that the Matrix belonged to Rodimus now.... I just have a hard time with Rodimus' blow over. No one even considered his demotion back to soldier... I feel that he should have at least had a bit more respect....
I can understand hatred stemming from his part in Optimus' death... But I feel he took the hardest blow with it all... I mean, he was there---  just made a wrong decision (A VERY wrong decision--- he should've listened to Kup).... But in the end he will pay for it the most -- through his guilt...
His one regret...
